CAO Brad Collett says half of the study is being paid for by the water services board. He says the city budgeted $300,000, but the tender came in at $73,000.

"We're very lucky that the tenders came in and the lowest and probably the best tender came in at $73,000 so we're only on the hook for half of that."

Collett says the extra money as a result of the savings will go towards a capital project so less money will have to be taken from the reserve fund.

The study is a feasibility study on the city's wastewater treatment lagoon in regards to capacity issues, and includes the development of a wastewater collection system model.

The tender has been awarded to JR Cousin Consultants.
