High Winds Push Ice Off Dauphin Lake onto Property
The RM of Lakeshore has issued a public advisory regarding ice build up on the shores of Dauphin Lake.
Strong winds have pushed ice onto the shore in some areas, creeping into yards in some cases.
The advisory issued by the RM last night asked those living along the shores of Dauphin Lake to monitor the situation as long as high winds continued. Today's forecast is calling for wind to become light this morning.
In 2013, wind pushed so much ice onto shore it destroyed and damaged several homes and cottages in Ochre River.

PST Rollback Won't Be Immediate
Manitoba's incoming government leader says it would be irresponsible to lower the PST immediately upon entering office, considering where the province is financially.
Premier-designate Brian Pallister says the PST won't be lowered in the first year or two for sure, and they will take on performance review of the government before such action is taken.
"There's a number of initiatives that we'll be proceeding with, but the first is to get a performance review done so we can see how deep the hole is we're inheriting. I'm a practical guy, I want that PST lowered, but at the same time I have to know what the books are."
Brian Pallister's Progressive Conservatives won a 40 seat majority in Tuesday's election.

Family Band from Missouri Plays Parkside Gospel Church
Four siblings from Missouri drove all the way to Manitoba to play some bluegrass music, and raise money for kids.
Southern Raised performed at the Parkside Gospel Church near Dauphin last night, with some of the money going to the Dauphin Christian Bible Camp.
Bass Player Lindsay Reith says it's a great cause, and they're more than happy to help out.

And she says she loves getting to play with her brother and sisters.
"It's really fun doing it together as a family. We have good times, good memories, and of course, being a family, there's a lot of times you can just read on stage, you know, what each other's doing and what they're thinking, and just working together is fantastic."
Southern Raised partnered with One Hope Canada for their Manitoba tour. Communications Coordinator Harold Giesbrecht says the band raised $2,370 last night. Most of the funds will go to the Dauphin Christian Bible Camp, and some to One Hope Canada.

Winnipeg Man Accused of Sending Letter Bombs Appealing Denied Bail Decision
A judge has reserved decision on whether a Winnipeg man accused of sending letter bombs to his former wife and two lawyers should be granted bail.
It's the second time Guido Amsel has applied to be released from custody.
He's appealing a decision from last September that denied him bail.
Amsel, who is 49, was charged with three counts of attempted murder after letter bombs were sent to a pair of law firms and to his ex-wife last summer.
Two of the explosives were safely detonated, but one exploded and seriously injured a lawyer who had represented Amsel's wife in the couple's divorce.
