Municipal government minister Drew Caldwell today announced $1.1-million for 59.7 kilometres of road in the Parkland.

Ste Rose mayor Rob Brunel was one of the people on hand for the announcement at Dauphin's city hall.

He says the money from the province allows their municipality to do more infrastructure work than they would normally do.

"You know, instead of doing one street in the Town of Ste Rose and some road-capping in the rural areas, we get to do two or three streets. It's very important for a community our size to keep that infrastructure deficit at a minimal, and continue to maintain our communities so that way we can use them to our full potential."

Ste Rose is using the money for work on Fifth and Sixth avenues, Elevator Street, and Road 82W.

RM of Dauphin Reeve Dennis Forbes says the funding will allow the RM to improve infrastructure to accomodate heavy-traffic coming in for grain elevators.

The RM of Dauphin is using the funding for roads 111W, 115W, two sections of 109W, 144N, and the waste transfer station service road.
