FIVE FOR FIGHTING - CHRISTMAS SONG

Five For Fighting singer John Ondrasik was talking with musician Jim Brickman about how they didn't want to ``just want to regurgitate another Christmas song.''

They both had done work for military causes, so they decided to write a holiday song for them called ``Christmas Where You Are.''

Ondrasik says his work with the military has been rewarding, but people are surprised to learn he has no family connection to the military. He says after 9-11, he got letters from soldiers in Iraq telling him how much his song ``Superman'' meant to them and that sparked his interest in helping them. ``Christmas Where You Are'' is on Brickman's new album, ``A Joyful Christmas.''

MEEK MILL - APPEAL

Among the arguments Meek Mills' lawyers are offering in their plea to get him out of prison is the fact that neither his probation officer nor a prosecutor thought he should go back to prison. His lawyers have filed an appeal asking for Mill's probation to be terminated. Last week, Judge Genece Brinkley sentenced Mill to two to four years in prison for violating probation in a gun and drug case. Brinkley cited a failed drug test, failure to comply with a court order restricting his travel and two other unrelated arrests. Because Mill is a celebrity, he's in protective custody in state prison, but the only housing for protective custody there is solitary confinement, according to the motion. On Tuesday, Mill's lawyers asked Brinkley to recuse herself from the case, saying she's overstepped her bounds as a judge. They say among other things, Brinkley asked Mill to remake the Boyz II Men song ``On Bended Knee'' and mention her in it.
