The Manitoba Junior Hockey League has announced several major changes today. These changes were approved at the Board of Governors meeting in Selkirk last weekend prior to the 2016 MJHL draft.

The overtime format in regular season will now be a five minute sudden death 3-on-3 format. If the score is still tied when overtime expires a shootout will take place.

The other major change is the removal of the Survivor Series from the existing playoff format. Instead four best-of-seven quarter final series will be played. The Playoffs will begin on March 10th.

An amendment was made to the Junior A Supplement guidelines that strengthen the length of suspension for accumulation levels (three minor penalties in the season), Major penalties and Match penalties for a Blow to the Head.

An amendment was made to the Junior A Supplement guidelines that initiates a suspension for accumulation levels (five minor penalties in the season) for Goaltender Interference.

The other major announcement is the date of the Old Dutch Showcase.

The 14th installment of the Showcase will take place Dec. 12-14 at the MTS IcePlex in Winnipeg.

The Showcase will attract scouts from a number of levels of hockey including NHL, NCAA, and CIS.
