Russell’s Jay Thiesen was the low Parklander as the Manitoba Mid-Amateur Championships kicked off yesterday at the Selkirk Golf & Country Club. 

He fired a 6 over, 77 and is in a tie for 23rd. The round also has him just seven strokes behind the leaders.

Gilbert Plains Country Club’s, Chad Facey fired a 9 over, 80.  Tyler Lacquette, also of the Gilbert Plains Country Club finished with a 10 over, 81.
