Landon Cameron has been working at the Neepawa Golf & Country Club for 11 years and he's never been through what has happened this year.

On top of the novel coronavirus which has changed the way the game is played, Neepawa received so much rain two weeks ago that not only did the course shut down on June 29 until further notice but many members of the community were affected.

"We've had some spring floods because of thaws and whatnot, but this was unbelievable," said Cameron, general manager at the Neepawa Golf and Country Club. "This affected so many people, I hope no one here has to go through that ever again."

There is some good news now; however, as Cameron has confirmed that the back 9 will officially re-open tomorrow for play. The front 9 will remain closed until further notice.

"It's just good to get back to some kind of normal after what we've been through here," continued Cameron. "Everyone has been through so much, we're really glad that we can open the back nine for business."

Cameron notes that the Monday before everything was shut down that the course was in the best shape that he's ever seen before. There is still some standing water because of the amount of rain that fell, but he assures that the course is certainly in playable shape and it's a wonderful track for anyone to play.

"Our guys are working as hard as possible to get it as playable as possible for the weekend and then we'll pick away at it as we can," concluded Cameron.
