Predation and tracking top issues for MBP members

A good number of beef producers showed up to a Manitoba Beef Producers meeting to discuss issues facing the industry.

Constant issues that farmers are dealing with took most of the time, as they discussed what they want MBP to focus on when dealing with the province. At the District 13 meeting in Roblin, last night, Director Ben Fox says new regulations and taxations are a big concern.

“Quite a few topics that were covered. Obviously, traceability was a big one. Predation was another big one that eats up a lot of time. We didn’t get into too much as far as trade and the things that are coming down the line with that, but basically, these meetings are driven by the producers.”

A couple resolutions were passed at the meeting for BMP to push the government to fix the predatory animal problem and for better tracking of cattle.
