ROY ORBISON - DARK GLASSES
The reason Roy Orbison wore dark glasses all the time can obliquely be credited to his English fans. Orbison's son, Roy Junior, tells Rolling Stone magazine his father could not see without glasses and left his regular ones on a plane right before he started his 1963 tour of England with The Beatles. Roy Junior says his father had his dark glasses with him, and when he got off the plane in England, fans took pictures of him in the dark glasses.
That led to the air of mystery that followed Orbison his whole life.
Orbison's sons have just released a biography called ``The Authorized Roy Orbison'' that breaks into that mystique. Roy Junior says his father had started writing his life story before he died.
