Friday Sports Notes

The Westman High School Rugby League Season kicks off tonight for the Dauphin Clippers. Both the boy and girl squads hit the road for games against the Souris Sabres. The Clipper girls are in action first, they'll hit the field at 5:30pm and the boys will follow a little later at 6:30pm. Listen to CKDM tonight for updates.

After over a year of preparation the Western Canada Cup kicks off tonight at Credit Union Place in Dauphin. The Opening Ceremonies are FREE for the public to attend and get going at 6:45pm, the first round robin contests happen tomorrow. The first game Saturday sees Yorkton skate with Winnipeg, then in the evening the Dauphin Kings battle Spruce Grove. Single game tickets are on sale today at the Credit Union Place South Ticket Office and online at westerncanadacup.com.

The NHL Playoffs are back tonight with three tilts on tap. In the east the New York Rangers try to build on a 2-1 series lead when they visit Philadelphia. Out west four teams try to break 2-2 series deadlocks. Chicago is in St.Louis and Anaheim welcomes Dallas. 

The Toronto Blue Jays continue their home stand tonight when they entertain the Boston Red Sox in the first of a three game set. It's one of 15 games on a busy night in the Majors.
