Wold's World

Brent Wold grabbed three goals including the winner Tuesday night at the Western Canada Cup as the Dauphin Kings beat the Winnipeg Blues 4-3 in overtime.

The victory is a big one for the Kings, who clinch a playoff berth at the Western Canada Cup and have their fate in their own hands when it comes to where they can finish in the standings. Besides Wold the other scorer for the Kings was Captain Mitch VanTeeling (1). The Blues had goals from Ryan Bittner (2), Jackson Keane (1) and Ben Sveinson (1).

Jordan Piccolino and Byron Spriggs were both strong for their respective teams. Piccolino stopped 28 of 31 shots while Spriggs turned aside 19 of 23.

Power Plays were uneven in the contest, Winnipeg finished 1 for 5 while Dauphin was 0 for 3.

The Kings now control their destiny while the Blues drop into a three way tie for third. Dauphin can finish first in the round robin with a victory over Coquitlam on Thursday while the Blues future is still unknown with tiebreakers in the mix. The playoff picture for the WCC is still a murky one but it should be in focus by the end of the night on Thursday.

There's just one game on the menu on Wednesday, it has the Yorkton Terriers facing off with the Coquitlam Express, opening face off is 7:00pm.
