Kings lose battle against Virden, 6-4

It was a packed crowd at Credit Union Place on Saturday evening, and all the fans were treated to a fantastic game, but in the end, the Oil Capitals beat the Kings, 6-4.

1st Period

Ex-Dauphin King, Darren Gisti opened up the scoring for the Oil Capitals 9:33 into the frame to take a 1-0 lead for the Oil Capitals.

Not three minutes later, the Kings scored not one, but two goals to take a 2-1 lead. Austin Friesen and Riese Gaber scored the goals for the Kings.

Three minutes later, the Oil Capitals tied it off the stick of Dylan Thiessen as the two teams went into the dressing room after 20 tied at two.

2nd Period

Brayden Billaney regained the lead for the Oil Capitals 6:21 into the second period to take a 3-2 lead.

Eight minutes later, the Kings tied it, as Ryder Richmond's shot went off Brendan Arnold's body on deflected into the net.

The scoring continued with just 1:29 left in the second, as the Oil Capitals regained their one-goal lead off the stick of Darren Gisti.

The Oil Capitals lead 4-3 after 40 minutes.

3rd Period

3:00 into the third, Jaymes Knee tied it up for the Dauphin Kings, but from there, the Oil Capitals took over as they scored one on the power play, followed by an empty-netter as they solidified a 6-4 win to complete the home and home sweep against the Kings.

Game Facts 

The Oil Capitals ended up outshot the Kings, 33-30.
