Parkland Bantam Female AAA hockey team getting ready for season!

The Parkland AAA Bantam hockey team is preparing for their hockey season to kick off this Thursday.

The team will take on Yellowhead this Thursday in Waywayseecappo at 7:00 p.m. in their first exhibition game.

"The team has been selected and formed," said Phil Fafard, Head Coach of the team. "Things are trucking along. We're still trying to get organized and we're excited to get it going."

Fafard notes that Parkland hasn't had a female Bantam AAA team for a few years, and he is not sure where the team will fit in.

"I like the group of individuals we have," said Fafard. "We're hoping to progress throughout the year. We're looking forward to our first game to see how it goes."

The team will be back on October 14 as they take on Yellowhead at Credit Union Place at 4:30 p.m., but the majority of their games will be played in Grandview.

"Its a chance to see the quality of female players that are coming out of the Parkland," said Fafard. "It's pretty exciting hockey, it's at a high level. I would encourage everyone to come out and watch for sure."

A further schedule for the season will be announced when it is provided.
