RANGERS PLAYER REVEAL: Reece Hopfner

The Parkland Rangers will be no short of experience this season with several veterans set to return, including Ste. Rose's, Reece Hopfner.

Reece will be returning for his third and final year as a part of the Midget AAA team.

"It means a lot," said Hopfner. "It's been a good two years, we had our ups and downs, but now I'm going into my third year, and I'm trying to be a leader to the guys like they were to me when I was young."

Since joining the Midget Rangers in the 2015-16 season, Hopfner has seen his production offensively increase each year, which included a career-high 29 points last year, in 44 games.

"I have high expectations for myself," said Hopfner. "I'm a third year, so I expect a lot. Not just pointwise, but being a leader on and off the ice."

The Rangers struggled last season early but finished as one of the best teams in the league as they snuck into the playoffs in the eighth spot, before bowing out in the first round.

"I think that just showed we can play with any team in the league," said Hopfner. "We just have to come out and play 100% of the time. We can do better than eighth place for sure, so we can get an easier opponent heading into the playoffs."

Reece was another one of several Rangers players that took part in the Dauphin Kings training camp.

"They were big strong guys out there, the pace is quicker, but it meant a lot to go quite deep in the camp," said Hopfner. "It was a great learning experience for myself, to learn where I need to be on the ice, and now I can bring that back to the Rangers."

The Rangers take on the Brandon Wheat Kings tomorrow evening at Credit Union Place in the teams home opener.

"I'm really excited to kick this season off," said Hopfner. "It's been a good summer, but I'm ready to get back on the ice."

Puck drop tomorrow is set for 7:30 p.m.
