Dauphin's Andrew Liwiski enjoying experience in AJHL

After playing four seasons in the Parkland Rangers organization, Dauphin's Andrew Liwiski is now playing for the Lloydminster Bobcats of the Alberta Junior Hockey League.

"The Rangers program helped me a lot in growing as a person, and a player." said Liwiski. "It was a great experience overall."

The Bobcats have been a team of ups and downs the past couple years, which included going to the RBC Cup Final two years ago, and last year, they finished as one of the lowest ranked teams in the league.

"We're coming off a rebuild last year obviously," said Liwiski. "We had only one returning guy from the year before that went to the Final. Right now in the dressing room, we feel like we can be contenders. We're off to a rough start, but we're working hard at the rink every day, and we want to turn this around."

Andrew spent one year with the Bantam Rangers, and three with the Midget team, playing in 147 games in which he recorded 86 points.

Before going to play for the Bobcats, Andrew suited up in three games for the Dauphin Kings last season.

"The most rewarding part about playing junior hockey is just the experience," said Liwiski. "As well as trying to attain a NCAA scholarship in the future."

Andrew's brother, Mark Liwiski is off playing in the WHL for the Everett Silvertips.

"I'm super proud of him," said Liwiski. "He's my brother and my best friend. We had the chance to play together last season, and it was probably the best season ever. I just hope he can continue on with Everett and have a good season this year."

Currently, the Bobcats are 1-4 to begin the season, but they will look to right the ship as they take part in the AJHL showcase this week.
