RANGERS PLAYER REVEAL: Garrett Hrechka

When the Parkland Rangers hit the ice tomorrow night, 15-year-old Garrett Hrechka will suit up for his first year as a Midget hockey player.

"Making the Rangers means a ton to me," said Hrechka. "The big goal this year was to make this team. I've been dreaming of it since I was a little kid."

Hrechka kicked off his hockey year when he took part in the Neepawa Natives training camp back in early September.

"That helped me a lot," said Hrechka. "I was more confident coming into Rangers training camp because I was used to playing with bigger and faster guys at the Neepawa camp."

Before this year, Hrechka played for the Bantam AAA team for two seasons, playing in 71 games, recording 35 points, 25 of which came last season.

Thanks to his efforts last year, Hrechka was then drafted by Neepawa in the sixth round of the 2017 MJHL Draft.

When the Rangers hit the ice tomorrow, Hrechka has a feeling this could be a good year.

"We're a pretty well put together team," said Hrechka. "The coaches made some great decisions, and we have lots of skilled players on the team. I think we're going to do pretty good."

Hrechka notes the best part about putting the Rangers jersey on will just be representing the Parkland region and getting the chance to play the sport he loves at a high level.

You can see Hrechka and the rest of the Rangers tomorrow evening at 7:30 at Credit Union Place.
