Rangers take on Wheat Kings in home opener!

Today is the day that the goals begin to matter, and for each team in the Manitoba AAA Midget League, their hopes of topping the league begin which includes the Parkland Rangers who will kick off their schedule this evening on home ice against the Brandon Wheat Kings.

"I think we're in a pretty good head space right now," said Head Coach of the Rangers, Brad Dupasquier. "In my experience, you play how you practice so if that is any indication, we just need to control our nerves and emotion, and get at it tonight.

Being the first game of the season, it will be the first time the Rangers match up with the Wheat Kings.

"We did take a little peek at them at the Southwest Cougars tournament," said Dupasquier. "We have to eliminate the time and space they have, and we always have to be on the right side of the puck. They have a lot of skill offensively, and between the pipes as well."

Puck drop tonight is set for 7:30 at Credit Union Place.

"It's fast-paced hockey," said Dupasquier. "You can come watch some local kids that put a lot of time and effort into this, and of course the intensity is always high."

The Rangers will then take on Interlake tomorrow evening, once again at Credit Union Place.
