Rangers Dominate Lightning

The Parkland Rangers looked dominant from the first to last minute on Saturday evening as they won their first game of the season against the visiting Interlake Lightning, 6-1.

1st Period

It was a dream start for the Rangers who found themselves up 2-0 just 1:38 into the game.

Carter Cockburn and Reece Hopfner were credited with the goals.

Nine minutes later, Cockburn scored his second of the game at the 10:31 mark, and at the 11:01 mark, Jackson Betcher made it a 4-0 lead for the Rangers.

The Lightning then scored their first of the game, but after 20 minutes, it was the Rangers 4 and the Lightning 1.

2nd Period

1:01 into the second, Darian Boychuk scored his first of the season and "Special AP" Isaiah Weedon scored his first of the season at 12:16 to extend the Rangers lead to 6-1 and that's where it stood after 40.

3rd Period

The physicality ramped up in the third, but no goals were scored.

Game Facts

The Rangers outshot the Lightning, 50-24.
