Terriers snap losing streak with 4-1 win against Kings

The Dauphin Kings headed into Portage on Friday night winners of three of their last four games, but a slow start held the Kings from extending that streak as the Terriers beat the Kings, 4-1 at Stride Place.

1st Period

It took the Terriers just 0:34 seconds to open the scoring as Jeremey Leipsic scored his second of the year with the assists going to Mackenzie Dwyer and Daniel McKitrick.

The Terriers extended their lead at the 12:23 mark as they went up 2-0.

Riese Gaber had a golden chance on a breakaway in the first and went to the backhand, but Brock Aiken made an excellent save between the pipes for the Terriers.

2nd Period

After being denied in the first, Gaber scored his team-leading eighth of the season, 11:58 into the second as the Kings cut the deficit in half at 2-1.

It took the Terriers just three minutes, however, to regain their two-goal lead and after 40, the score was 3-1 Terriers.

3rd Period

The third period was a feisty one that saw 10 different players pick up 10-minute misconducts all at the 5:08 mark.

The Terriers added one more goal in the period as they skated away with a 4-1 win on their home ice.

Game Facts

Portage outshot the Kings, 28-21.
