Dauphin's Rod Carberry is Climbing up the Coaching Ladder

Dauphin's Rod Carberry has been a big part of the success that the Parkland Region has had in Rugby, and he is being rewarded for that as he was announced as the new Head Coach for the U16 Team Manitoba Rugby Team.

"I'm very excited about this on many levels," said Carberry. "Obviously being the coach, but what I'm really excited about is the opportunity for our local players in the Parkland."

As mentioned before, Carberry has had a lot of success coaching, including being a part of the Clippers women's Rugby 7's team who won the Westman Championship a few weeks back and was also a part of the Parkland Pirates who won Championships at the U17 level in Winnipeg a couple weeks back as well.

"I would imagine that success helped me get this position," said Carberry. "We were able to compete against the best of the best in Manitoba, and realistically, we scratched together a team and gave them the fundamentals and we worked hard with them and won games. I think winning breeds success, so yes, I think that success was a big reason why I got this position."

Carberry won't have much time to relax, as he will hit the field next weekend, as the program will host two talent identification camps on October 28 and 29 in Portage La Prairie, in which several Dauphin and Swan River girls will be taking part.
