Ebb and Flow's Marty Flett Set to Receive Umpire of the Year Award!

When Baseball Manitoba holds their annual Awards Banquet next weekend in Brandon, the family of Marty Flett will be there to receive his Umpire of the Year Award.

Unfortunately, Marty passed away this past year.

"It would mean a lot to him," said Joan Malcolm, Marty's Sister. "He just loved the game. He would go and watch any type of baseball, and he would be calling the strikes, balls, and outs. He just loved the game so much."

The induction of Marty won't be the first induction for the community of Ebb and Flow.

"The Ebb and Flow Lakers were inducted into the 2017 Baseball Hall of Fame," said Joan. "And when that happened, Marty was given a commemorative jacket of the team."

Joan will be one of the Flett's that will head to Brandon to receive the honour on behalf of the deceased Marty Flett.

It means a lot to us as well," said Joan. "The family is so proud of Marty, and we are so happy he is being recognized for all he did."

The Induction Ceremony will take place on November 4 at the Clarion Hotel in Brandon.
