Bantam AAA Women Rangers Place Second

The Bantam AAA Parkland Women Rangers headed to Waywayseecappo for the Yellowhead Chiefs tournament over the weekend and came home with a second place finish.

The team beat Norman, 5-1 on Friday night before beating Yellowhead on Saturday morning, 2-0.

On Saturday afternoon, Parkland gave up a lead against Pembina Valley in the final round-robin game, but the team rebounded and tied the game up late for the tie which set up a rematch between Parkland and Pembina Valley in the finals.

In those finals, Parkland battled hard but ended up losing 3-0.

"I'm very proud and pleased," said Phil Fafard, Head Coach of the team. "The girls were really excited, and it's nice to see them have some success. We're looking forward to the rest of the season when we get together, and obviously, we will be pushing for success."

With the Parkland AAA team being a dual-rostered team, the majority of the girls will now go play for their house teams, but will all come together to practice once a week to get ready for exhibition games throughout the season, as well as provincials early next year.
