Former Parkland Ranger Connor Dewar Enjoying the WHL Life

Connor Dewar played for the Parkland Rangers from 2013-2015 and now the Pas native is in his third season with the Everett Silvertips of the WHL.

"It's been really special," said Dewar. "Growing up in rural Manitoba, and then moving up here has been a great opportunity. It's a really special opportunity, and I don't take it for granted."

Dewar notes playing for the Rangers helped him progress to the WHL.

"I wasn't really a top guy, and I had to work for my minutes," said Dewar. "I had a great relationship with Doug Hedley, and I was able to learn a lot about the intensity of the game, and I definitely developed a lot."

The Silvertips have been a force in the U.S. Division for years, but this year they are struggling to start, with a record of 6-9-1, but they have won their past two games.

"We have a younger group this year," said Dewar. "One night, we had nine players in the lineup that don't have a point in the WHL. We got a new coach, so we had a little bit of an identity crisis. We're starting to figure it out, and we're about to get a couple veterans back in the lineup."

Dewar has added lots of offence this year, with 17 points in 16 games so far.

"I got some more opportunity when we got a new coach," said Dewar. "I feel the older you get in this league, the more bounces you get."

The Silvertips are back on the ice tomorrow against Prince George.
