Swan River's Quinn Munro Enjoying First MJHL Season

Swan River's Quinn Munro suited up in 24 games last year for the Parkland Rangers, and now the 18-year-old is playing in his first season with the MJHL's Swan Valley Stampeders.

"It's just crazy," said Munro. "The skill level is so much faster and better than when I played AAA. From a young age, it was my dream to play for my hometown team, and now that I am, it's definitely crazy."

With Munro being a first-year player, he's played in just one regular season game for the Stamps this year.

"I'm just really lucky to be able to go on the ice every day to practice," said Munro. "It allows me to improve, and I just have to get better so when I do get the chance to play, I'm ready for it."

Although Quinn hasn't played often, he has embraced his role as a backup and is happy to be learning from Grandview's Brett Evans who is the team's number one.

"It's amazing watching him play every night," said Munro. "I learn so much new stuff just watching him. He knows the ins and outs of the league being a third-year goalie. I always ask him things, and he always is ready to help me."

14 games into his first MJHL season, Munro already has a favourite moment.

"I felt that my first game was amazing," said Munro. "To finally play in front of that crowd that I was a part of my whole life. It was just so exciting to get the chance to play and achieve the goal I've been trying to reach."

Munro and the Stamps are off to Winnipeg tomorrow to take on the Blues and Sunday they will play Selkirk.
