"You see all the teams bringing out the pink tape and everything which is great," said Shaw. "As much as that's a nice gesture and everything, I kinda thought that I would try and do an action to raise some money. As a 21-year-old student, I obviously wasn't financially able to do so, but I sent out a note to the organization, and they went above and beyond what I could have ever expected."
Five years ago, Connor's mom passed away from Breast Cancer.
"When I first started it, I wanted to help make a difference," said Shaw. "Cancer Care Manitoba and the Canadian Cancer Society did so much for my family. As much as this was something for me to give back to say thanks, it was an opportunity for other guys to show that they're thankful. Everyone is affected in some way, and to be able to make a contribution like this, is definitely something I'm proud of."
Connor hopes this will motivate teams to do this in the coming years.
