The Manitoba Summer Games May be Coming Back to Dauphin!

13 years ago, Dauphin hosted a very successful Manitoba Summer Games, and in 2020, those games may be coming back to town.

"We've got a bid committee together that has put a bid on hosting the Games," said Carla Wolfenden, Co-Chair of the 2020 Games Committee.

With the 2004 games being a success, Carla notes that it was a no-brainer that the committee went ahead with a bid to get the Games.

"Dauphin has a great track record of hosting events," said Wolfenden. "There's an energy to bring the games back to Dauphin. We have great facilities and a lot to offer, and we have a lot of great people who will volunteer their time to make it a great Games."

In the first step of the bidding process, Sport Manitoba's site selection committee was in Dauphin to view the venues, and Dauphin passed that step with the great facilities in town. The second step was a comprehensive bid which basically outlines if the community is able to host the Games in which Dauphin once again passed. The site selection committee will now return to town on November 23 in which the Games Committee will be giving a formal presentation on their goals, and visions for the Games.

Stay tuned here to 730CKDM as we will keep you up to date on the progress of Dauphin's bid to get the 2020 Manitoba Summer Games.
