Brad Jacobs and his Canadian Curling Rink will play for gold at the Winter Olympics after a 10-6 win over China in the men's curling semifinals. The group from Ontario goes on to face Great Britain's David Murdoch. The Men's Gold Medal Game is Friday morning. Meanwhile, Jennifer Jones is a win away from a perfect Olympics after a 6-4 win over Britain in their women's curling semifinal. Jones will face Sweden in the Gold Medal Game tomorrow morning at 7:30.
Canada has its fifth gold medal at the Winter Olympics after Kaillie Humphries and Heather Moyse won the women's bobsled event. The Canadian pair also took gold four years ago in Vancouver. They came back to beat the U-S-1 sled, which led up to the final run but struggled in its fourth and final trip down the track. Medal total is now up to 18 (5-9-4).
Back in Manitoba. The Brandon Wheat Kings will try to stop the bleeding tonight when they entertain the Victoria Royals. Brandon has dropped six straight and sit seventh in the Eastern Conference, while Victoria is third in the West and doesn't have a regulation loss in their last 13 outings.
The Winnipeg Blue Bombers have signed Korey Banks to a contract extension that will keep the veteran defensive back in Blue and Gold for the next two seasons. The ten-year CFL veteran spent the last eight seasons with the B.C. Lions but was acquired by Winnipeg in a January trade.
