For the first time this season the Dauphin Kings picked up a win at Tundra Oil and Gas Place, beating the Virden Oil Capitals 5-2 Tuesday.
The Kings tallied three goals in the third to take the contest.
Scoring for Dauphin Tuesday were Jared Morris (18), Mitch VanTeeling (23), Hudson Morrison (6 & 7) and Brent Wold (20) who had a disgusting goal for the game winner. He picked up the puck on his stick behind the net in the third period and tucked it over Adam Iwan's shoulder in the top left corner. It's a goal that's been done before but it's very rare. The fans in the arena went silent after Wold tucked it in.
Dauphin finished the night 0 for 3 on the Power Play and 2 for 2 on the Penalty Kill. Both clubs had a shorthanded goal Tuesday.
Michael Stiliadis (20-5) took the win in goal. He was good, stopping 24 of 26 shots. The Kings put 29 on the Virden net.
With the victory Dauphin moves to 39-17-2 on the season and pad their lead atop the Sher-Wood Division standings. They finish with a record of 5-3-0 against Virden this year and have two games left in their season, both are on the road. Neepawa on Friday and Swan Valley on Saturday. You can listen to both games on CKDM. Start times are 7:30.
