Tuesday Sports Notes

The Grandview Comets and Miniota-Elkhorn C-Hawks begin the North Central Hockey League Championship best-of-five series tonight in Elkhorn. It's a rematch of last years league final. Game two of the series happens in Grandview on Friday.

The Dauphin Kings will try to go up 2-0 on the Blizzard tonight as their Sher-Wood Division Semi Final series continues in OCN. The Kings did not lose in OCN this season, however all but one of the games played at the GLMC were one goal contests. Listen to tonight's tilt on CKDM, the Pre Game Show begins at 6:40 with start time at 7 o'clock. One other contest in the MJHL playoffs tonight as the Selkirk Steelers look to bounce back in Winnipeg against the Blues.

The Brandon Wheat Kings are desperate for a win as they host the Saskatoon Blades at Westman Place tonight. The WHL club is currently tied for the 8th and final playoff spot in the Eastern Conference with Red Deer and Prince Albert. To make things worse leading scorer and former Parkland Ranger Jayce Hawryluk has been suspended by the league for the remainder of the season. After this evening Brandon has two games left in their season, both against Regina.

The Toronto Maple Leafs will try for another big win in California. The Leafs surprised the Anaheim Ducks 3-1 last night and tonight they visit the San Jose Sharks. In Minnesota, the Wild greet the Edmonton Oilers. There are a total of nine games in the NHL.

Don't expect Rich Peverley in the lineup when the Dallas Stars visit St. Louis tonight. Peverley collapsed on the bench last night during a game against Columbus. He was hospitalized with what was called a cardiac event and the game was postponed. A doctor says Peverley was treated "successfully" at American Airlines Center.
