Friday Sports Notes

Don't be surprised if you catch some Parkland hockey fans cheering for the Regina Pats tonight. The Brandon Wheat Kings lead three-games-to-none in their WHL playoff series. With a win tonight Brandon moves on to the second round of the post season. However, with a loss the two teams will be a little closer to coming to Dauphin for a game six matchup on Monday. Game time in Brandon this evening is 7:30pm.

The Dauphin Kings took a 3-0 stranglehold on the Sher-Wood Division Final last night with a big 7-2 win at home against the Virden Oil Capitals. Dauphin can sweep the series tomorrow night in Virden. You can listen to the contest on 730 CKDM starting with the Pre Game Show at 7:10pm, face off is 7:30pm.

Peter Prokopowich, Kelly Robertson and the rest of the Team Manitoba Men are off to the semi finals at the National Seniors Curling Championship in Yellowknife. They'll meet the winner of a tie breaker between Alberta and Northern Ontario this afternoon. The semi final happens at 7:30pm. 

The Toronto Maple Leafs visit the Philadelphia Flyers looking to snap an ugly six-game losing streak tonight. The Leafs are fighting to get back into playoff position while the Flyers hold the third post-season berth in the Metropolitan Division. Elsewhere, Ottawa faces Chicago, Calgary entertains the New York Rangers and Edmonton hosts Anaheim.

Baseball is back in Montreal. The Toronto Blue Jays and New York Mets begin a two-game exhibition series tonight at Olympic Stadium, the former home of the Expos. It's been 10 years since the Expos left to become the Washington Nationals.

The round of eight in the NCAA's men's basketball tournament will be finalized tonight. Virginia is the only top seed in action, taking on fourth-seeded Michigan State. Elsewhere, Iowa State plays U-Conn, Michigan faces Tennessee and Louisville tips off against Kentucky.
