It's a practice day for both the Dauphin Kings and Winnipeg Blues. Game two of the MJHL Final happens tomorrow night at Credit Union Place. The Blues lead the best-of-seven series after winning the opening contest last night in Winnipeg. The Credit Union Place South Ticket Office is open until 5:00pm today and then from 11:00am to game time (7:30pm) tomorrow. Winnipeg had just over 950 people in attendance for game one at the MTS Iceplex.
The Winnipeg Blue Bombers have hired Cory McDiarmid as the club's linebackers coach. McDiarmid was recently a special teams assistant with the Saskatchewan Roughriders and has 10 years of CFL experience under his belt, including three trips to the Grey Cup. He's coached with the Bombers before. During that time McDiarmid was special teams co-ordinator and running backs coach.
The Boston Red Sox will try to get things back on track when they open a series against the Texas Rangers tonight at Fenway. The defending World Series champions were swept by the Brewers this weekend. Meantime, the Toronto Blue Jays get a day off before hosting the Houston Astros in a three-game series starting tomorrow.
Two teams are left in the NCAA men's basketball tournament. Tonight the Kentucky Wildcats are playing the Connecticut Huskies at AT&T Stadium for the national US college championship. Kentucky advanced with a win over Wisconsin Saturday while U-Conn qualified for the title game with a win over Florida.
