Thursday Sports Notes

Opening round play at the Masters is underway under sunny skies. The weather is expected to be perfect with temperatures in the mid to high 70's and light winds. The Big Three of Arnold Palmer, Jack Nicklaus and Gary Player got the festivities underway with ceremonial tee shots. Former British Open champ Stewart Cink and South Africa's Tim Clark were the first competitors on the course.

Dauphin's Hanne Jensen is apart of an eight team field in Winnipeg taking part in Under-18 Canada Games Trials. The women's event begins tonight for Jensen who goes up against Randine Baker of Winnipeg. Prince George British Columbia is the host city of the 2015 Canada Winter Games.

It's a packed schedule in the NHL this evening with 11 games including 6 Canadian teams. The Winniepg Jets play their final home game of the season as they host the Boston Bruins. Elsewhere, Montreal entertains the New York Islanders, Ottawa welcomes New Jetsey, Toronto visits Florida, Edmonton is home to Los Angeles and Vancouver hosts Colorado.

Knuckleballer R-A Dickey takes the mound for Toronto as the Blue Jays try for the three-game sweep over the Houston Astros. Toronto's 7-3 victory over Houston last night guaranteed the Blue Jays their first series win of the young season. Dallas Keuchel gets the start for the Astros.
