It's been a baseball-heavy sumer for Gilbert Plains' Jared Lagoski.

Lagoski was named a league and provincial all-star en route to a Dauphin Clippers provincial title.

His Midget double-A ball team just earned a berth into provincials yesterday.

He's off to Neepawa Wednesday night with the Dauphin Brewers to play their final regular season game before playoffs.

And now's he's been called to serve as an umpire in Steinbach for the 2016 Manitoba Summer Games.

Lagoski says he just loves being around the diamond in whatever capacity he can, whether it be playing, umpiring, watching, or coaching.

The last four years of umpiring have been successful in the Parkland with 2 umpires being called to the 2012 Summer Games, and Will Hlady being named Youth Umpire of the Year by Baseball Manitoba last year.

Lagoski, a first year Baseball Canada certified Level III umpire, will be supervised by Baseball Manitoba umpire supervisors to help improve his skills with the hopes he continues to umpire in Manitoba in the years to come.
