Recently signed King Grady Hobbs, tapped in Kyle Oleksiuk's rebound shot to put the Kings on the board in the first period.
In the second period the Kings were the first to strike again as Matthew Bartel grabbed a loose puck that bounced off the end boards, shot by Kelby Picard.
The Oil Capitals stormed back with three goals of their own from Tanner Lewis, and Marco Mazza to draw even. Shortly after Mazza's goal Ben Dalke scored to put the Oil Caps in front for their first lead.
The Kings answered back before the end of the period though, Picard and Bartel combined forces again, this time Picard the goal scorer, on a backhand play on the short side that just got by Caps goaltender Riley McVeigh.
In the third frame the Oil Capitals restored their lead thanks to a goal from Tyler Kirkup, the Kings tied the game 4-4 with an unassisted Marker from Jaymes Knee just 13 seconds later.
McCullough Park scored just over halfway through the third to give the Oil Caps the lead once again, it was his third point on the night, picking up two assists already before that.
The Caps got an insurance empty net goal from Kyle Salaway in the 6-4 win. The Caps outshot the Kings 58-36.
The Kings are in action at home again on Friday when they host the Neepawa Natives at Credit Union Place at 7:30. The next night they travel to the Yellowhead Centre to play the Natives in Neepawa, that game will be broadcast on 730 CKDM.
