In just six days, Dauphin's Kiara Wilson will be hitting the water as she will compete at the Manitoba Winter Games in the swimming competition.

"It means a lot because I work really hard," said Wilson. "I'm the youngest girl on the team this year, so it means a ton to me."

At just 11-years-old, Kiara will not only be the youngest girl on her team, but she will be one of the youngest competitors at the Games.

Kiara will compete in six events, and two of her favourites are the 100m backstroke, and 100m IM.

"My goal is to make it to the A-Finals," said Wilson. "I'm working as hard as I can in practice so I can achieve my goal."

The Games begin in just three days with the Opening Ceremonies.

"I'm really excited to stay in the athlete's village," said Wilson. And, to meet new friends, and just enjoy the experience."

Kiara is a part of the Parkland Gators swimming club.
