Sifton will have some representation at this year's Manitoba Winter Games in Thompson as Rhea Amendt is set to compete in the swimming competition.

"I've never competed in the Games before," said Rhea. "So, I'm really excited about this opportunity."

At just 12-years-old, Rhea who swims with the Parkland Gators will be one of the youngest competitors in the swimming competition and event in general but she's ready for the challenge.

"My goal is to get better times in each race I take part in," said Rhea. "I'm going to try my hardest, and I've been training a lot, so hopefully I can get some really good times."

The swimming competition gets underway on March 7, and Rhea says she can't for the 50M freestyle race, and the chance to meet new people.

The Manitoba Winter Games Opening Ceremonies take place this Sunday.
