For the first time this season the Dauphin Kings picked up a win at Tundra Oil and Gas Place, beating the Virden Oil Capitals 5-2 Tuesday. The Kings tallied three goals in the third to take the contest. Scoring for Dauphin Tuesday were Jared Morris (18), Mitch VanTeeling (23), Hudson Morrison (6 & 7) and Brent Wold (20) who had a disgusting goal for the game winner. He picked up the puck on his stick behind the net in the third period and tucked it over Adam Iwan's shoulder in the top left corner. It's a goal that's been done before but it's very rare. The fans in the arena went silent after Wold tucked it in. Dauphin finished the night 0 for 3 on the Power Play and 2 for 2 on the Penalty Kill. Both clubs had a shorthanded goal Tuesday. The North Central Hockey League Semi Finals are set to start later this week. The Grandview Comets and Russell Rams begin their best of five series on Saturday in Russell. The Dauphin Kings and Oil Capitals meet for the final time this season in Virden tonight. The two clubs will finish first and second in the Sher-Wood Division respectively. The Kings have three games left in their year, tonight in Virden, Friday in Neepawa and Saturday in Swan Valley. Dauphin opens up the playoffs in March against the winner of the Survivor Series between OCN and Wayway. Game time tonight is 7:30. Listen to it on 730 CKDM! A quiet day for sports but a big night for the Westman High School Hockey League's Dauphin Clippers. They'll play the third and deciding game in their best of three series with the Melita/Waskada Devils at Credit Union Place. The series tied 1-1 after Melita picked up a 4-3 overtime victory over the weekend. Game time tonight is 8:30. The winner moves on and the loser goes home.

Starting in Manitoba... The Dauphin Kings open up a three game in three night stretch tonight when they visit the MJHL's top team in the Selkirk Steelers. Dauphin, like a bunch of teams in the MJHL, have yet to beat the Steelers this season. Listen to the tilt on CKDM starting at 7:30. Canada has won its fourth straight Olympic gold medal in women's hockey and it happened in dramatic fashion. Marie-Philip Poulin scored in overtime to beat the Americans 3-2. The Canadians were down 2-0 with six minutes left in regulation but battled back and sent the game to a fourth period. Earleir this morning Switzerland won bronze with a 4-3 victory over Sweden.
