Radio Version

Can we think of ‘exercise as medicine’?

We’re joined by Dr. Nicole Culos-Reed, Professor in the faculties of Kinesiology and the Cumming School of Medicine at the University of Calgary. Dr. Culos-Reed joins CKDM News Director Matt Hamel to discuss the challenges we all face maintaining an exercise routine during the pandemic. She also walks through how we can harness physical activity as an effective way to manage our mental, emotional, and functional health.

If you’re thinking of starting an exercise routine, please consult with a medical professional to ensure you do so safely. Click here for a self-screening questionnaire for participating in exercise.

The Canadian Society for Exercise Psychology (CSEP) has 24 Movement Guidelines (ages 18-65, and 65+), which can be accessed here: https://csepguidelines.ca/
