The Knights of Columbus in Dauphin want you to come out and try their "Poor Boy Lunch"
This Friday they are holding the event for the first time. It's a beans, wieners and buns lunch in an effort to raise money for Habitat for Humanity.

Knights of Columbus member Lloyd Hudson says that he was the one who came up with this idea for a fundraiser after attending one a long time ago.

"I attended an event in Brandon about 12 or 15 years ago and they had a poor boys lunch. And they wanted people to realize what it was like to have to have a meal of wieners and beans, but that was the idea of it. They wanted people to realize that there are people who live on this all the time."

Hudson says that he's not doing this fundraiser for personal gratitude.

"I do it because I think there is a need in our community that needs to be filled. Habitat for Humanity is the reason why i'm doing it and for a way to raise money so that we can do things for people."

The lunch is $5 at the 11th avenue hall this Friday from 11:30am-2pm.
