Two Parkland hockey stars are one step closer to representing Manitoba at the 2023 Canada Winter Games.
Hockey Manitoba has released its roster for the Male Under-16 Program of Excellence that will hit the ice this Sunday for an exhibition game against the U18 Winnipeg Wild.
The roster includes Ryan Gower of McCreary and Easton Odut of Dauphin. Odut now lives in Brandon and is playing with the U18 Wheat Kings while Gower is in his rookie season with the U18 Parkland Rangers.
The exhibition game will be the fourth phase of the Hockey Manitoba Male U16 Program of Excellence (POE) which is the provincial high-performance development and selection program that leads to the formation of U16 Team Manitoba.
Following the fourth phase, there will be a fifth phase which will see a roster head to Saskatoon for a pair of games against U16 Team Saskatchewan.
From there, a final roster will be announced to represent the province at the Canada Winter Games that are set to take place from February 18-26, in Prince Edward Island.
