It was a third period the Dauphin Kings will never want to replicate, but their first 40 was just enough.
With the Kings up 3-0 after 40 minutes and rolling, the Titans scored two late goals to make it close; however, they couldn't find the equalizer in a 3-2 loss against their West Division rival.
Dauphin struggled heavily in the third period to get across the finish line as they turned over dozens of pucks and failed to hit their stride, like they did over the first 40 minutes of the game. Ultimately, they did enough in the first two periods to earn themselves two points.
Madden Murray, Havryil Simchuk, and Logan Walker scored for Dauphin in the game while Cole Sheffield was once again outstanding and was the reason Dauphin won in regulation. He ended up making 32 saves in the game.
With the win, Dauphin is now just a single point behind the Blizzard for second place in the West Division and the Kings still have three games in hand. Paired with their loss and a Waywayseecappo win, the Titans are just three points ahead of the Wolverines for the fourth and final playoff spot.
The Kings return to the ice on Friday when the Wolverines come to town.

The Dauphin Clippers hockey team dressed just 12 players on Tuesday in Swan Valley and gave the Tigers all they could handle.
Trailing 3-0 after 40 minutes, Dauphin put together an incredible effort in the third period as Boston Karlson, Norman Lacquette, and Tyron Sweetman scored. However, the Tigers would score the winner as they won the all-Parkland battle, 4-3, over Dauphin.
Owen Chubka stopped 43 shots in the game as Dauphin put together a great effort despite being extremely short handed for the game. Dauphin dropped to 19-6-1 with the loss while the Tigers improved to 13-9 with the win.
Dauphin now welcomes Glenboro to town on Saturday night as the Wildcats and Clippers go to battle at 3:30 at Credit Union Place. They're then on home ice at 11:00 a.m. on Sunday against Roblin. That is the team's final game before heading to Las Vegas for a tournament and they wrap up their February league play portion of the schedule on February 23 against Crocus Plains.

It was a great weekend for teams within the Dauphin Minor Hockey Association.
The U7 Green Goblins went undefeated to win the A-side championship in Russell over the weekend. Every player on the team was extremely excited to win the Candy Cup. They beat Virden in the finals, 14-7.
Elsewhere, the U9 Dynamite had a tremendous weekend in Roblin. They downed the host in the final, 12-2, to win the C-side championship.

The Parkland U15 Rangers opened up their regular season on September 30. Carter Moncrief and Noah Smigelsky scored in that game in a loss to the league-leading Brandon Wheat Kings.
The very next day, Parkland enjoyed their first taste of victory as Dayson Martin scored three times and had one assist in a 6-5 thrilling win against the Southwest Cougars. Brayden Budolowski had a five-point game with two goals and three assists while Ben Poole also scored in the win. Xander Perih made 39 saves between the pipes.
Five months later, the Rangers have 10 wins on the campaign as they prepare for two final regular season games this weekend. On Saturday, the team is in Winkler to play Pembina Valley before returning home on Sunday afternoon to play the Eastman Selects in their final game.
Parkland will enter this weekend with losses in four of their last five games. The team is coming off a 10-4 loss against the Thrashers Blue on Sunday afternoon in Swan River, two days after they posted a 5-3 win over the Norman Northstars. Parkland has also lost seven of their last nine games.
Despite those struggles, Matt Kustra has still been impressed with the team's work ethic.
"We are still working hard and giving a great effort, we battle right until the end of every game," said Kustra. "As long as we never quit and battle, that's what matters. It's more important to not quit rather than look at the wins and losses. I'm proud of how our guys are sticking with the process and giving it their all."
Brayden Budolowski and Dayson Martin have led the way offensively for Parkland this year. Budolowski has 28 goals in 29 games and 46 goals to average 1.59 points per game. Martin; meanwhile, has 25 goals in 27 games to go along with 19 assists and 44 points.
"Both those guys are hungry, they have been playing together for a few months and they're always a threat when on the ice," offered Kustra. "It's pretty impressive to watch what they can do offensively."
Noah Smigelsky is third in team scoring with 43 points and Kustra says he has been outstanding this year and has a very bright future. Other than the trio leading the club offensively, Parkland has six other players who have recorded at least 10 points this year.
There's no doubt that the Rangers possess some top-end talent offensively, but Kustra knows the club needs to sharpen up defensively.
"Our big focus is play in our defensive zone, we need to cut back on the goals that we're allowing," said Kustra. "You're not going to win many hockey games when you're giving up as many goals as we are at times."
Parkland is scoring on average just less than 4.2 goals per game; however, they are allowing 5.8 goals per game. As the regular season continues to wind down, Kustra is pleased that he was allowed to lead the program.
"I truly see it as a real privilege, it's not every day that someone gets an opportunity to lead a team and help develop young talent," said Kustra. "I have enjoyed every single minute from being with the guys to being around the parents. I couldn't have asked for a better group to be a part of. It's been a great ride."
Following play this weekend, playoff hockey will be up next for Parkland as they will play in the consolation bracket of the league playoffs.
"There is a lot of excitement, the teams that will play in the consolation side, we know that we can beat them," ended Kustra. "It's looking like we will play Southwest or Yellowhead. We have beaten Southwest twice and we split with Yellowhead, so we know we can compete and win. We have to finish off strong this upcoming weekend and then we will get ready for what's next for our group, everyone will be ready for the challenge."

Team Forsyth is just recently coming off a championship at the Neepawa Curling Club.
On Sunday night, they achieved one of their major goals for the season as they were crowned champions as the Parkland Super League of Curling came to a close for the season. Wrapping up the season at the Dauphin Curling Club, Kyle and his foursome put together a great Sunday to cap off the championship run.
In the semifinals, Kyle and his crew beat Team Rob Fisher, 7-4. Then later in the final going up against Team Glenn Toews, Team Forsyth was not to be denied as they racked up nine points in a 9-5 title-clinching win. In the final, Team Forsyth was up by a single point in the eighth end without the hammer and they found a way to steal three points.
"It felt great to win it again," said Forsyth. "We had two really good games on Sunday and found the way to get the job done. It was nice to steal in the eighth end in the final."
It was the team's fifth time winning the league and they will be back next year in hopes of making it six. The foursome features Kyle, Jarvis Whyte, Trent Hill, and Cody Hill.

The Parkland Vipers U13 girls' volleyball team showed what happens when you all have a common goal.
Of course, this year's team also features a ton of elite talent and it was on full display over the weekend. Playing in a tournament in Virden, the Vipers were in a class of their own. In the round-robin, Parkland won three of their four matches in straight sets and split one.
Then come playoff time, the team continued to cruise as they beat Club West in the Final 4 in straight sets. That set up a match with the BVC Cougars in the final, a team they had already beaten in the round-robin, and the Vipers were not to be denied as they once again won the match in straight sets to win the title.

The Vipers 14U girls' team; meanwhile, finished in fourth place at the Club West tournament. They lost a hard-fought three-setter to Carman in the third-place match.

The Parkland U18 Rangers couldn't create enough quality chances on Sunday as they wrapped up their weekend with a loss to the Interlake Lightning.
Just hours after a huge win on Ukrainian Night against the Lightning, Parkland came up short in a 4-1 loss to Interlake to wrap up the two-game set at Credit Union Place. The Rangers finished the game with 29 shots; however, for the most part, life was very easy for Dylan McFadyen who made 28 saves to record the win between the pipes for the Lightning.
Ethan Myhre also made 28 saves for Parkland. Cash Clarkson was the only goal scorer for the Rangers in the defeat as they now prepare for a game on Thursday against the Yellowhead Chiefs in Shoal Lake. Parkland is now eight games back of a playoff spot with eight games to go in the reuglar season.

The Dauphin Clippers basketball team put together another hard working weekend on the court.
In Winnipeg for the Nelson McIntyre tournament, Dauphin opened up their tournament by hammering Tec Voc, 107-66. Nick Hudyma had another monster game as he recorded 43 points, four assists, and four steals. Ronin Mouck also put together a great performance with 21 points, 12 rebounds, three assists, and a single block. Rounding out the dominating win was a great performance from Josiah Seale as he had a double double with 10 points and 12 rebounds. Seale also had five assists and four steals.
In the team's next game, Dauphin went up against the top-ranked AAA team in the province in St. John's Ravenscourt. Dauphin lost a hard fought battle, 86-72. Nick Hudyma had 26 points and three assists while Ronin Mouck racked up 24 points to go along with seven assists and four steals. Chase Kunza also filled up the stat sheet with 15 points, four rebounds, and three steals.
Dauphin then came up short in the third place match against Linden Christian, 63-50. They are the eighth ranked AAA team in Manitoba. Ronin Mouck had 14 points, 10 rebounds, and five assists. Gabe Calso had five points and five rebounds while Nick Hudyma led the way with 22 points and five steals.
Dauphin has now returned home and they will host their Clippers Classic on Friday and Saturday at the DRCSS.

What a night it was and what a win it was for the Parkland U18 Rangers.
More than 1400 fans packed the stands for Ukrainian Night at Credit Union Place and fans had a lot to cheer about.
As Parkland hunts for a playoff spot, they picked up two critical points in a 5-4 win against the Interlake Lightning.
The Rangers found themselves down 3-2 late in the second period before they caught fire with three goals in the final five minutes of the frame and they scored four goals overall in the second.
Interlake scored once in the third, but the Rangers held on the rest of the way in the victory to earn two big points.
Chase Glover was outstanding for Parkland as he made 48 saves to record the win while five different Rangers scored.
They included Quinten Fisk, Tavyn Boychuk, Cam Sarna, Hayden Seib, and Ethan Carnegie.
Parkland will go for a weekend sweep on Sunday and Darnell Duff will have the call beginning at 1:15.

It wasn't pretty at all times but it was two points the Dauphin Kings needed, and two points is what they racked up on Saturday.
Wrapping up their weekend playing the Freeze, Dauphin found their stride late as they ended up easily skating past Winnipeg, 6-1.
It was a win that saw Dauphin salvage their weekend after losing to Winkler on Friday.
A highlight of the game was Sheldon Shyiak who scored his first MJHL goal late in the contest and Madden Murray opened up the scoring.
Gabriel Bugeaud, Jordan Bax, Rylan Gibbs, and Joshua Schmidt also scored for Dauphin in the win as they improved to 25-13-1 on the season. They're still three points back of the Blizzard for second in the West; however, Dauphin has three games in hand.
