PMH said in a release that Winnipegosis and Ste. Rose will each get an NP.

They were PMH-sponsored students and recent graduates of the Nurse Practitioner (Master of Nursing) Program.

Director of Primary Health for PMH, Pam Walker says these two communities were on the top of their list.

"They've been without or short staff for quite a long time, so that's how the decision was made to place these nurse practitioners in these three communities at this time."

Walker says nurse practitioners are able to do a variety of things.

"They are definitely a primary care provider who practices from a nursing focus, but is able to do a complete assessment, order diagnostic tests, prescribe treatment therapies, prescriptions and make referrals.

Shauna-Watt-Dorscheid is working out of the East Parkland Medical Group in Ste. Rose. She is accepting clients through the physician clinic there.

As of today, Nurse Practitioner, Jodi Allard is accepting patients at the Winnipegosis Clinic.

General office hours for the Winnipegosis Clinic are Monday-Friday from 9:00 a.m.– 4:30 p.m, appointments can be made at 204-656-4492. Your Manitoba Health Card is required.

PMH also announced that Melita was on their list in getting an NP.
