The Flin Flon Bombers find themselves in an unexpected situation following the first two games of the Canterra Seeds Cup Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League Final.

Facing off against the formidable Melfort Mustangs, who had recently clinched a spot in the final by defeating Humboldt in a decisive game seven, the Bombers struggled to find their rhythm, dropping both contests at the Whitney Forum.

Throughout the playoffs, the Bombers had enjoyed smooth sailing, winning their first eight games convincingly.

In contrast, the Mustangs had battled through 12 games leading up to Friday's matchup. Although the Bombers started strong in game one, their performance faltered, resulting in a disappointing defeat at the hands of the Mustangs, who surged ahead with a nine-goal onslaught.

The following day brought a similar narrative, with the Mustangs initially conceding the opening goal before rallying with four unanswered goals, securing a 4-1 victory. With Melfort now holding a commanding two-game lead in the best-of-seven series, all eyes turn to game three, scheduled for Wednesday night at the Northern Lights Palace.
