Christmas is roughly a week away, and you may find yourself a bit stressed right now. 
 
Every year many people struggle with numerous stressors over the holidays and there are preventative ways in dealing with these struggles.  
 
According Eleanor Snitka who's the Outreach Manager for the Mood Disorders Association in Manitoba here in the Parkland, some of the best ways in handling these situations are talking with one another.   
 
"This can be a hard time for anybody, but certainly for people who are living with mental health problems, Christmas and the holiday season can be a very stressful time... it's a good time to spend time with those people to try to talk to them about ways that they can get through this season without going down into that dark pit."   
 
Community Mental Health Nurse with PMH Tracy Ridgen, feels the best preventative measures are too just slow things down.
 
"Definitely we all know that December can be a hectic stressful month, if it hasn't hit you already it'll be like a snowball to the back of the head very promptly... there's a lot going on and we really try to slow down the pace for people, it's not an easy task but we try to find ways to acknowledge your feelings."  
 
Prairie Mountain Health defines holiday stress as increased symptoms of anxiety, impatience, fatigue, and depressed mood that many people experience over the holiday season.
