Cassidy Dundas, Tessa Terrick, Lauren Evason and Grace Beaudry had just one weekend of curling together under their belt before going into an event that had a spot in the Canada Winter Games up for grabs.

It turns out, that is all the newly formed foursome needed to finish as bronze medalists. Competing in the Canada Games Trials over the weekend in Winnipeg, the team had a perfect round-robin as they went 7-0. In those seven games, the team scored 57 points and they only gave up 17. That great run earned them the top seed heading into the four-team playoffs where they would come up short against Team Wahl in the semifinals.

Team Wahl jumped out to a 3-0 lead and even though Dundas, Terrick and the remainder of Team Beaudry stole one in the eighth end, it wasn't enough as they fell 7-6. The loss put the team in the bronze medal game and after back-to-back blanks, they scored six points in three ends combined and coasted to a 6-1 win. Dundas, who is from Onanole was pretty proud of the team after winning the bronze.

"I think we played very well together, especially being a new team," said Dundas. "It was a really long weekend, playing nine games in three days is tough. It would have been nice if we could have won it all but I'm happy that we could win the bronze at the end of the day."

The team will be back on the ice in competition in December for the Asham Curling Supplies U18 Championships, an event they will enter as one of the top seeds.

"This past event was definitely a great starting point for us," said Dundas. "We will definitely be feeling confident heading into that event and we're looking forward to it."
