Deepkaran Hans led the way with two goals, Cole Sheffield was once again solid, and the Dauphin Kings cruised to their 11th win of the season.

Dauphin improved to 7-2 on home ice in a 5-2 win against the Selkirk Steelers as the two teams opened a home-and-home.

After Selkirk opened the scoring early on a goal by Lucas Brennan, Dauphin dominated the remaining 16 minutes as they scored three goals to take a 3-1 lead after 20 minutes. Hans scored two of the goals while Aidan Brook scored the team's other marker. Dauphin outshoot Selkirk in the first period, 13-4.

Selkirk would turn the table shots wise in the second as they recorded 20 of them but Sheffield was brilliant as only one got past him when Lucas Brennan scored his second of the night. Thomas Stewart and Matthew Gough would respond for Dauphin as they opened up a 5-2 lead after 40 minutes.

No goals were scored in the third period as Dauphin skated to their 11th win of the campaign and they now have 24 points on the season, five fewer than OCN who is in first place in the highly contested West Division.

The loss drops Selkirk to 1-11-3-1 and the two teams will complete the two-game weekend series on Saturday in Selkirk.
