After a four day training camp that began on Thursday afternoon, the Dauphin Kings kicked off their preseason schedule this afternoon at Credit Union Place, and they looked dominant in beating the visiting Swan Valley Stampeders, 4-1 on home ice.

1st Period

In a game where the Kings never trailed, Jaxon Heeney got the Kings on the board 11:48 in as he picked up his first goal of the preseason, while Mitchell Joss and Matt Pitchenese picked up assists.

Less then four minutes later, Sam Harris scored his first of the preseason, with the helpers going to Carter Sawchulk and Bradyn Smelski as the Kings took a 2-0 lead.

The Stamps cut into the two goal deficit two minutes later as Tanner Morrison got a shot past starting goaltender Bob Parenteau, in what ended up as a goal that Parenteau will definitely want back.

At the end of it all, the Kings led 2-1 after 20 minutes.

2nd Period

It didn't take the Kings long to restore their two goal lead in the second period, as Alex Cattani who began his week with the Brandon Wheat Kings at their training camp, potted one past Logan Larock as the Kings took a 3-1 lead. Mitchell Joss picked up his second assist of the game on the goal, and Jaymes Knee added his first.

12 minutes later, while on the penalty kill, Matt Pitchenese stripped the Stamps defender and went the other way to tuck in a sweet goal past backup goalie Quinn Munro, as the Kings took a 4-1 lead, and that's where it stood after 40 minutes.

3rd Period

The final period of the game provided both teams with chances, and several nice saves, including multiple from Albert Adamsen who came in relief of Bob Parenteau midway through the second period.

No goals ended up being scored in the third period, as the Dauphin Kings skated off in front of their own crowd with a convincing 4-1 win to kick off their preseason.
